SARAJEVO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Italy whitewashed Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) 3-0 in Euro 2020 Group J qualifier on Friday evening in Zenica, some 70 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo.
Two minutes into the game, BiH's Edin Visca and Edin Dzeko headed for a goal, but Dzeko was caught offside.
Francesco Acerbi opened the scoring for Italy in the 21st minute, assisted by Nicolo Barella. Lorenzo Insigne extended the lead in the 37th minute.
BiH's Dzeko, Miralem Pjanic and Adnan Kovacevic tried hard to narrow the gap, but their attempts were saved by Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Seven minutes after the interval, Andrea Belotti scored the third goal for Italy to seal the win.
The rest of the second half was an even play by both teams.
Italy are topping Group J with 27 points, followed by Finland with 18 points while BiH are fifth with 10 points.
BiH will play their last qualifying match in Vaduz against Liechtenstein on November 19.
