TOKYO, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose to the upper 107 yen range on Friday in Tokyo as Japanese stocks closing sharply higher on bargain hunting supported the market.
At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 107.64-65 yen, compared with 107.25-35 yen in New York and 107.76-77 yen at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Tokyo.
During the day, the U.S. dollar moved between 107.22 yen and 107.71 yen, with it changing hands most frequently at the 107.50 yen level.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1264-1265 dollars and 121.25-29 yen against 1.1270-1280 dollars and 120.95-121.05 yen in New York, and 1.1238-1239 dollars and 121.10-14 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
