ISLAMABAD, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A road accident that took place in Jhang district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province killed eight people of the same family on Sunday evening, local media reported.
According to the reports, a troller hit a passenger van at the Bhakkar Road of the district, killing eight people and injuring four others.
Police and rescue teams rushed the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the district hospital.
The hospital officials told local media that three of the injured are children were in critical condition.
All the deceased and injured belonged to the same family and they were onboard in the van. The victims were coming back home after attending a marriage ceremony when the accident occurred.
The crash took place when the troller driver changed its lane to pass another loaded truck but it crushed the ill-fated vehicle coming from the opposite direction, the reports added.
Police registered a case against the driver of the troller who managed to run away from the site after the collision.
