LUSAKA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's premier agricultural and commercial show opened its doors on Wednesday, with organizers assuring that all was set for the event.
The Agricultural and Commercial Show, which runs from August 1 to 6, is Zambia's most prestigious show that has a renowned networking custom for businesses, citizens and countries across the globe.
"The gates of the show grounds have opened to signify business interactions among individuals, SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), corporations, state-owned enterprises and many others," Caroline Silwamba, the president of the Agricultural and Commercial Society of Zambia, the organizers of the yearly event, told reporters.
Being held under the theme "Sustainable Economic Empowerment", the six-day event has received overwhelming response from both local and international exhibitors, with 1,000 local exhibitors confirming participation and 123 international exhibitors, she added.
The show, she said, provides a unique and seasonal trading market place that attracts various economic players from within and abroad, adding that it also provides an exhibition platform for showcasing product innovation, exchange of ideas and engagement with policy makers.
According to her, the event was significant to the country's development as it acts as a good catalyst for stimulating economic growth and strengthening mutual cooperation between countries.
This year's event will be officially opened by President Edgar Lungu, she added.
